Over the last couple of months, 404studio has kept Dom busy working on the next installment of the Tidy Producer Series. Two cds including both classics and exclusive unreleased material have been mixed by Dom himself.
The first cd is a classics mix which spans Dom's production history and includes timeless gems such as
Let Me Tell U Something, Don't Stop, Fireball, If U Have It and Re Flux.
The second cd is a blistering mix of fresh new productions hot out of the blocks from 404studio
and includes some excellent collaborations from some top names in todays hard dance scene. Andy Farley, Karl Davis and Mark Johnson were all invited to help craft some fresh new material for the album. Mr Clarke, a relative new comer to the scene and a recent collaboration partner to Dom was also brought to the helm for some excellent groove based material.
Due to be released mid March '08 this looks set to be a must have cd for your listening pleasure.
Dom's recent live PA's have proven to be a massive success.
In true Spinball style, Dom utilizes the groundbreaking software Ableton Live to seamlessly link and morph tracks from his ever increasing discography along with new mixes of previous productions. Live triggering of vocals, fx and riffs are put through the control of dj style filtering to produce a liquid sound that is unique to the occasion.
Dom uses a minimal setup while out and never pretends that anything more is needed. An Apple powerbook running Ableton Live is the hub of the gear while two usb controllers consisting of an Evolution UC-33 and a Novation Remote-25 are the interface between Dom and the laptop.
When asked about it, Dom has always said he likes the music to do the talking and sees his live sets as his way of dj'ing. He never claims that it is 100% live but leaves himself the ability to shape the set as he wishes to suit the audience he plays to.
